H3C Help Starbuck Transformate and Upgrade Infrastructure to Address New Business Challenge

Starbucks is a well-known coffee brand in the world, with more than 5,000 chain stores in more than 200 cities in China. With the in-depth digitization of store business, the original store network solution can no longer meet the demand, and urgently needs to be build next generation experience-based network.

H3C provides the SimpliVity hyper-converged and core network integration solution for Starbucks' new GDS data center.

SimpliVity HCI

There are a total of 163 nodes, which serve as the core virtualization platform for systems such as Starbucks Now, PLM, database, and ERP.

Core network

Two sets of S12504X-AF and more than 40 sets of S6850 data center switches are used to provide a 25G-100G ultra-wide Ethernet network for the hyper-converged platform to meet the high-speed data transmission and future expansion requirements of the hyper-converged platform.

The core switch S12504X-AF adopts the most advanced CLOS architecture, providing high-density 100G/400G switching performance and rich cloud computing features. The access switch S6850 supports 48 ports of high-density 25G access and 8 ports of 100G uplink. Both the core and access support DRNI and IRF virtualization technologies, providing high reliability at the device level and link level. At the same time, it has SDN VxLAN, RDMA lossless network and INT chip-level visualization capabilities, which provides the possibility for future upgrades to cloud data centers.

Network upgrade

One router, one switch, and two APs are deployed in each branch across the country. The router can be used as a branch VPN and AC at the same time, reducing hardware costs, simplifying networking, and meeting terminal access requirements.

Minimalist VPN

Two high-performance routers are deployed in the data center of the headquarters, which are VPN aggregation devices, and the dual centers can form load sharing and active/standby backup;

Cloud management

Cloudnet platform unifies and manages the network of stores across the country, and manages a large number of devices remotely and uniformly in the cloud;
