According to relevant statistics from the Ministry of Health, 75% of hospitals in China have built or are building Hospital Information System (HIS). However, the hospitals with the HIS are unevenly located in China. The number of hospitals with HIS accounts for about 90% of the total number of hospitals in East China. In most other regions, the proportion is between 45%-60%, and in the western and northeastern regions, the proportion is even lower. In terms of hospital size, about 95% of provincial hospitals, 70% of the prefectural and municipal hospitals, only 50% of the county-level hospitals have established the HIS.
