Cooperation between H3C BRAS and Tsinghua University

Following the successful implementation of Tsinghua University Campus Cloud, Tsinghua Universty campus wireless network with 9,000 APs, Tsinghua University graduate portrait and other solutions, H3C, a subsidiary of Unigroup, made another significant breakthrough by providing the H3C BRAS solution for the construction of the Tsinghua University campus backbone network.

In the process of campus network renovation, Tsinghua University prioritizes the needs of access control and billing information collection of massive faculty and student terminals and dumb terminals under IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack environment, followed by the reliability renovation of the original campus backbone network.

This network renovation is aimed at minimizing the original campus network, providing faculty and students with access to diverse terminals, preventing the proliferation of terminal security risks, and ensuring the reliability of the entire network at Tsinghua University.

Tsinghua University adopted 13 sets of CR16000-F BRAS equipment from H3C to transform the campus network. The network bears Tsinghua University's smart campus services for teaching, research and management, and provides access control for nearly 60,000 teachers' and students' terminals and nearly 10,000 dumb terminals, ensuring that the overall network runs stably in the complex IPv6/IPv4 dual-stack terminal environment. The precise behavior control of all access terminals improves the overall security of the campus network. The hot standby technology of the solution ensures the network reliability and minimizes perception of campus video and audio class teaching and research services that are sensitive to network latency and jitter during the switchover of the core equipment, substantially improving the satisfaction of teachers and students.

The campus backbone network of Tsinghua University built with BRAS upgrades the campus network without changing the original network structure of faculties and departments and the network using habits of students and teachers. It has largely improved the experience of students and teachers in using the network and fully reflected the innovation and adaptability of the solution.
