H3C Wins Bid for China Telecom’s First Centralized Procurement of vBRAS for Metropolitan Area Cloudified Network

    13-07-2022

H3C recently won the bid for China Telecom’s first centralized procurement of virtual broadband remote access server (vBRAS) for its Metropolitan Area Cloudified Network for 2022.

The centralized procurement marks a change in the construction of the telecom operator’s new metropolitan area network (MAN) from trial commercial operation to large-scale deployment. H3C’s winning represents another breakthrough in the deployment of its IP network routing service system in China Telecom’s networks following the adoption of its IP router series and solution including CR, multi-service edge (MSE), and 5G Smart Transport Network (STN).

The vBRAS system separates the control layer and forwarding layer of the access system of traditional broadband remote access server (BRAS) and deploys the control layer separately on server. In this way, China Telecom has achieved unified network operation, maintenance, and management, thus effectively simplifying configuration and improving operational and maintenance efficiency.

H3C’s vBRAS, through centralized unit (CU) separation architecture and cloudification, makes it possible to build and use network resource pool, increases the utilization rate of network resources, and can realize management and control of over one million users. Besides, it enables on-demand business deployment and shortens business development cycle by leveraging the modularity of business. While fully satisfying the diverse needs of China Telecom’s new MAN, H3C’s vBRAS system can boost the cloud transformation of the carrier’s MAN.

As one of the first vendors to take part in the defining of product form and formulation of technical specifications for carrier vBRAS, H3C has rich experience in the deployment of vBRAS and planning for new MAN, and has cultivated a strong delivery team for large-scale delivery of new MAN.

In fact, H3C has been fully engaged in the test and pilot projects for China Telecom’s new MAN since 2019. In addition, H3C has been deeply involved in the pilot projects for new MAN in China’s provinces including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Sichuan.

Take the project of Wuxi city (Jiangsu province) as an example. H3C’s deliverables have covered 800,000 users in the city, serving more than 150,000 subscribers to home broadband, interactive television (iTV), and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)services as well as four million users of the carrier’s Integrated Terminal Management System (ITMS) in Jiangsu province.

In the era of the digital economy, the convergence of cloud and network has become a core feature of digital information infrastructure. H3C has proactively taken part in the construction of the carrier’s new MAN, IP backbone network, 5G cloudified network, network cloud resource pool, among other major projects.

With rich experience in empowering the digital transformation of various industries, H3C has also played an important role in China Telecom’s DICT (data, information and communications technology) business and customization services, giving a strong boost to the comprehensive development of the carrier’s business.
