H3C recently unveiled White Paper: The Top 10 Technology Trends for 2021, which showcases its foresight and will empower the high-quality development of China's digital economy with its rich technical experiences and practices.
The report, compiled based on authoritative third-party data, is also a result of H3C's collision of ideas with top experts and scholars from enterprises, universities, research institutions and customers.
White Paper: The Top 10 Technology Trends for 2021
Trend 1: Smart network enables integrated digital infrastructure.
A trillion-node all-dimension network that is safe and smart, and connects people and matters will be built as advanced technologies integrate with each other, such as big data and AI (artificial intelligence).
Trend 2: Private 5G networks promote application of new industries.
In the next five years, global private 5G networks will achieve a compound growth of 40 percent, and make breakthroughs in energy, industrial manufacturing, and other sectors.
Trend 3: Silicon-photonics integration is expected to facilitate rapid development of the communications industry.
Silicon photonics optical transceivers will account for over 35 percent of all optical transceivers in the next five years, and ultra-large-capacity silicon photonics switches are likely to be put into commercial use.
Trend 4: The diversification of chip solutions will face multifaceted challenges.
High-performance, low-energy consumption, mini-sized, and multifunctional chips will be developed in an accelerated speed to bring better application experiences for users.
Trend 5: Distributed all-flash array will break storage bottleneck and be applied in more scenarios.
Thirty-five percent of storage systems will adopt this storage infrastructure of all-flash array for the next five years.
Trend 6: New application acceleration modules are going to push for the evolvement of computing architectures.
In the future, data processing units will be equipped with network, storage, AI and graphics acceleration capabilities, so as to achieve process-in-memory on micro level.
Trend 7: Cloud native could foster the integration of cloud computing architectures.
To build cloud native infrastructure and applications will become an inevitable trend. Over 80 percent of new applications over the future five years will be cloud native applications.
Trend 8: Problems faced by AI will be gradually solved, and smart applications massively popularized.
In the five years to come, AI is expected to be adopted in key businesses of more than half of major enterprises.
Trend 9: Digital twin is to release infinite potential of OMO (Online Merge Offline).
The digital twin market will hit $30 billion, with the digital twin technology to be widely applied in smart city, smart manufacturing and other sectors in the future 5 years.
Trend 10: The layout of new operation and maintenance (O&M) mode will be further broadened.
In the next five years, the O&M of around 69 percent of the enterprises will be transformed into a new mode featuring six key capabilities with intelligentization as the core.
