H3C Representatives Pay a Visit to Embassy of South Africa in China

Representatives from H3C and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) paid a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in China recently in Beijing.

Siyabonga Cwele, South African Ambassador to China, Yusuf Timol, Minister Counselor of Economic Affairs of the South African Embassy in China, Gary Smith, Economic Counselor and other officials of the embassy met with the representatives, including Richard Xie, Vice President of the International Business Department of H3C, and Shi Yonghong, Vice Chairman of CCCME, and held a symposium with them.

The two sides exchanged views on South Africa’s digital transformation, future economic development and the direction of future cooperation in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. The South African Ambassador to China expressed his hope for extensive exchanges and cooperation with H3C in related fields.

South Africa’s imports from China are mainly electromechanical products, Shi pointed out. In 2020, the trade volume of electromechanical products between China and South Africa was $7.2 billion, accounting for 20 percent of South Africa’s total foreign trade volume.

The CCCME has always maintained friendly exchanges and close cooperation with the South African Embassy in China. In the future, it will further strengthen contacts and cooperation with the South African Embassy to promote economic and trade development of the two countries and the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and South African enterprises, according to Shi.

Siyabonga Cwele gave a brief introduction to South Africa’s economic and trade situation, saying that South Africa formulated the National Development Plan 2030 (NDP) in 2012 and has been focusing efforts on achieving economic recovery and economic and social transformation in recent years.

Digital technologies will become one of the major driving forces for South Africa’s economic growth, Siyabonga Cwele said, adding that South Africa will have a huge demand for communication infrastructure construction, digital transformation of traditional industries, and big data management platforms in the future.

Companies with potential are welcome to enter the South African market, Siyabonga Cwele said, noting that the country will provide foreign businesses with a better investment and business environment. He welcomes and fully supports H3C’s establishment and expansion of business in South Africa and facilitation of the local digital transformation and upgrading, and is looking forward to carrying out more cooperation with H3C in future development of the digital economy.

Richard Xie expressed gratitude to the South African Ambassador to China for his warm reception and thanked the CCCME for its support and help. After introducing in detail H3C’s experience of being devoted to the digital transformation and development of various industries over the years, he emphasized H3C’s determination and confidence in advancing its global layout.
