The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, also the world's longest sea-crossing bridge acclaimed by The Guardian as one of the "Seven Wonders of the Modern World", was officially open to traffic. As the core solution provider for the informatization of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, H3C has provided world-class digital solutions in all dimensions including computing, storage, networking, security and O&M, facilitating the construction of a thoroughfare on the ocean.
As the world's longest sea-crossing bridge, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge spans the Lingdingyang Bay, connecting Hong Kong to the east and Guangdong-Zhuhai-Macao to the west. The bridge has a total length of 55 kilometers with the main bridge taking up 29.6 kilometers. It is the first mega sea-crossing traffic project jointly built by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is one of the projects needing the most sophisticated technology and conforming to the highest construction requirements and standards in the transportation history of China. In addition to unprecedented challenges regarding planning, design, and construction, there have been thorny problems facing engineers that are rarely seen in the engineering history, such as how to build the basic network and provide basic computing services for the bridge.
Facing the unexplored fields, H3C relies on the accumulation of digital technology from hardware equipment to system platform, as well as the practical experience in Qinghai-Tibet Railway Project, South-to-North Water Diversion Project, Yangshan Deep-water Port Project and other multi-century projects. H3C undertook more than 90% of the IT infrastructure construction of the bridge, and successfully built an intelligent digital platform connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao.
H3C builds a thoroughfare on the ocean with digital technology
Since the commencement of the project on December 15, 2009, H3C has risen to technological challenges from all aspects, including the tight period, rigorous standards, unusual construction difficulty, and problems regarding coordination and communication of construction participants. H3C has faced up to the difficulties and provided a variety of different types of products and solutions for the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on time and in quantity with high sense of responsibility, excellent service awareness and in-depth understanding and deployment experience of digital technology.
At the network level, H3C has developed the SDN smart network platform tailored to the bridge, which supports on-demand allocation of network resources, mass data transmission, low data latency, reducing the network maintenance cost by 50% and improving network security and reliability by 40%. The high-performance AP equipment secures the information channel for efficient operation and wireless mobile inspection of customs clearance equipment, enabling the completion of customs clearance as fast as 8 seconds. At the level of underlying IT infrastructure, H3C has provided world-class server, storage and backup solutions for all business systems of the bridge, increasing business efficiency by 30%. At the security level, H3C has built a protection system of Grade III of Graded Protection of Information Security in China, to provide all-round security for key business. At the O&M level, H3C's intelligent O&M solutions effectively simplify the O&M of the bridge network, and significantly reduce the investment and O&M costs.
Full-stack innovation capability facilitates travel
In general, H3C has provided an efficient and intelligent IT infrastructure platform for the business systems that support the operation and management of the bridge, ensuring the long-term stable operation of business systems including smart weak current management system, safety system, emergency command system, smart artificial island system, smart parking lot, passenger inspection center, cargo inspection, customs, border inspection and safety service.
Nowadays, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge spanning the Lingdingyang Bay has become the key channel connecting Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao for industrial integration and economic transformation. Digital technology, while providing better traffic experience, will further highlight and convey the value of this human wonder. As a leader in digital transformation, H3C shoulders the historical mission of assisting the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge with cutting-edge digital technology. This not only proves H3C's technical strength to the largest extent, but also provides an excellent platform for H3C to shape the digital future and contribute to the image of a powerful China. H3C will join hands with a wider range of ecological partners to make it possible for more "world-class Chinese manufactures" shining in the era of intelligence.
