H3C Releases Sustainability Report, Showcasing Comprehensive ESG Achievements

H3C officially released its Sustainability Report. The report comprehensively demonstrates H3C’s commitment to the sustainable development vision of “Digital for Better.” It details the layout, initiatives, and practical results in six strategic directions: Digital Empowerment, Innovation Leadership, Excellent Quality, Low-carbon Future, People First, and Compliance Governance.

Since its establishment in 2016, this is the fifth CSR/Sustainability Report released by H3C. This year marks the first time the CSR Report has been renamed the “Sustainability Report.” Tony Yu, President & CEO of H3C, stated: “This change reflects H3C’s increased focus on sustainable development in the areas of environment, society, and governance (ESG), building on years of corporate social responsibility. We remain committed to making H3C a respected, innovative high-tech company, proud of its employees, leading technological advancements, and rich in humanistic spirit. We strive to contribute to the development of the digital economy and the progress of human society.”

As a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), H3C is actively committed to green and environmental responsibilities. In 2023, H3C launched the “ALL IN GREEN” strategy to actively address climate change and promote the achievement of national dual carbon goals.

During the reporting period, H3C introduced a full-stack liquid cooling solution, offering flexible product portfolios to meet energy-saving and consumption-reduction needs across various industries and scenarios. This is particularly effective in green data centers, achieving an optimal Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of less than 1.05, continuously invigorating the future of data centers. To date, H3C has participated in the deployment of over 800 green data centers worldwide.

In terms of its own green operation, H3C continues to optimize energy utilization efficiency, conducts carbon inventory in accordance with the year, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions through energy-saving optimization, green power procurement, and other initiatives, and in 2023, the company procured and used a cumulative total of 67.9176 million kWh of green power.

H3C is committed to building a green industrial chain and actively implements the concept of sustainable development in product design, manufacturing, packaging and recycling to minimize the impact of products on the environment from the source. H3C also attaches great importance to the carbon footprint of its products throughout their life cycle, and actively carried out product carbon footprint assessment during the reporting period. During the reporting period, H3C issued carbon footprint statements for a total of nine servers.

Based on H3C’s outstanding performance in green and smart manufacturing, the company was included in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Green Manufacturing List in 2023 and recognized as a “Green Supply Chain Management Enterprise.”

H3C is committed to its sustainable development mission of “making digitalization warmer and more vital,” leveraging its digital smart platform to share value with society. Over the years, H3C has been deeply involved in supporting educational revitalization in Qingchuan County, Sichuan Province, by establishing the “H3C Qingchuan Education Charity Fund” to help schools improve their environment and enhance the quality of teaching and talent cultivation. Guided by the value of “bringing love to AI,” H3C has conducted digital classes in Qingchuan County, recruiting employee volunteers to teach high-tech knowledge such as AI, autonomous driving, and virtual reality, allowing children to experience interactions with AI firsthand.

H3C is also actively involved in global biodiversity conservation, dedicated to applying digital technology to more ecological protection projects. In 2023, in collaboration with the China Green Foundation, H3C launched the “Biodiversity Conservation through ICT Technology” charity project, donating digital equipment to the Tongbiguan Nature Reserve in Yunnan Province to harness AI in digital philanthropy and support species protection.

To support the national dual-carbon goals, H3C has been developing the “H3C Inner Mongolia Carbon Sink Demonstration Forest” over an area of more than 2,000 acres since 2022. They also encouraged all employees to become green pioneers, with over 10,000 participating online to jointly create a greener future.

H3C remains committed to a “People First” approach, focusing on talent training and development, and aims to create a diverse and inclusive growth platform for its employees. In 2023, the average training days per employee reached 4.4. During the reporting period, H3C was honored with the “2022 China Talent Development Lighthouse Award for Outstanding Enterprises.”

The company places great emphasis on improving governance structure and establishing a compliant system, building a comprehensive and rigorous anti-corruption and business ethics framework. This upholds the principle of integrity and fosters a fair and transparent corporate culture. During the reporting period, the company annually designs, updates, and provides training on the “Code of Business Conduct,” incorporating relevant case studies, achieving a 99.5% completion rate among employees.

In 2023, to enhance its capabilities in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management, H3C joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), further strengthening its commitment to ethical and responsible business practices, thereby promoting the company’s sustainable development.

With its forward-looking development strategy and consistent commitment to ESG principles, H3C has been awarded several prestigious accolades, including the “2022 ESG Pioneer 60—Annual Excellence in Social Responsibility Award,” “2022 Ram Charan Management Practice Award—Corporate ESG Practice Award,” “Southern Weekly—2023 Emerging Responsible Company,” “China Newsweek—2023 Company of Responsibility,” and the ICT industry’s sole "Chief Sustainability Officer" award.
